THE HYSSOP BRANCH FOUNDATION is a private California 501(c)(3) nonprofit,  public benefit corporation created and dedicated to being a vehicle to enhance the quality of life of individuals, for the ultimate betterment of the community at large. We embrace a holistic philosophy, and believe it is necessary to emphasize the importance of the whole; and the subsequent interdependence of it's parts. We understand that it is irresponsible, as well as unproductive, to attempt to heal any "part", without the well-being of the "total person" being ever in view. We therefore seek and encourage collaborative partnerships between other faith based and community based organizations as well as corporate & private institutions (both public and private), as they address the needs of at-risk and high-risk populations, especially youth.

Studies of inner city populations have found that criminal offenders, and underachievers are disproportionately low-income people with limited education and job skills, pervasive histories of childhood disruptions, and substance abuse / addiction. Their children often live at or near the poverty level, and are likely to experience the inevitable dysfunction that is manifested as a result of an unhealthy environment. We found that there were numerous families with little hope of remaining intact in any positive sense, and inadequate resources to support them in these circumstances.

We realized that responsible Christians, had been ministering individually, to situations like these for years, and so then consequently came to the conclusion that we could increase our positive impact, if we expanded our scope and reach. With this in mind, born out of the vision of Rev. Sammy P. Darling, II, The Hyssop Branch Foundation was formed in April of 2004.

Mind, body, and soul, we are providing services (Education, Employment, Mentoring, Counseling, and more) in our effort to affect broken lives, and to aid in the healing of diseased and underdeveloped hearts and minds.

THE HYSSOP BRANCH FOUNDATION thus purposes to:

Identify the dysfunctional/disadvantaged element(s) of society.

Identify and assess the nature and degree of the particular challenges hindering their growth/development.

Provide guidance, resources and training assistance in the development of the requisite mindset; along with the necessary tools and skills required for them to become healthy, responsible persons first; as well as productive members of their families, communities, and society.

“ Striving to leave our community, better that we were a part of it “
